Your first visit is really an investigation into what is going on with you right now. In order to, first, determine whether or not you’re a candidate for chiropractic care, and secondly what should that course of care look like, a consultation and exam are performed.

For your convenience, you may print off your paperwork and fill it out before you come to the office. The consultation covers your medical history both past and present, as well as what goals you may have for your future health.

First Visit

It’s a Chiropractic Investigation

The exam consists of a complete neurological, orthopedic, physical and chiropractic examination followed by a computerized scan of the spine and any necessary x-rays. Once Dr. Loewrigkeit has sufficiently gathered the information needed to determine that you are a candidate for care and a care plan is established, your second visit will cover what was found in the first visit. You can schedule your second visit at the end of your examination.

It should be noted that as a rule, rather than the exception, adjustments are not given on the first visit. There are reasons why adjustments should not be performed on certain people and these reasons are ruled out by the procedures of the first visit.

However, we are sensitive to your needs for relief. Click here for Home Care and Icing Instructions that will help ease your pain, decrease your muscle spasms and reduce the inflammation you are currently experiencing. Heat is beneficial in select circumstances, but makes inflammation worse and for that reason should be avoided in the beginning of care.

Second Visit

At your second visit, you should have some really great questions about what was found with the previous encounter with the doctor:

  • Can you help me?
  • What’s wrong with me?
  • What kind of care do I need and how long will it take?
  • How much will everything cost?

Dr. Loewrigkeit will sit down with you on this visit and address all these questions and any additional ones you may have. Once it has been determined that you are a good candidate to receive chiropractic care and a course for that care has been decided on by both yourself and the doctor, you will receive your first adjustment. Additional home care instructions will be given at this time, if needed.

Upon leaving our practice on that day, you will make your next 6 appointments and determine which of the 2 New Patient Pizza Parties best fits your schedule for that month.

Regular Visit

After the investment of time needed on the first and second visits, many people become concerned that every visit will be of equal length.

With the exception of new exams, your typical office visit should take 5-7 minutes depending on your needs for that day. A variety of chiropractic techniques are utilized, including: Diversified, Thompson Drop, Activator, SOT, Applied Kinesiology, and Active Release Technique for soft tissue.

We will elicit your feedback and tweak your care plan as needed.
